The memo also asks employees to immediately remove WhatsApp from government mobiles, laptops and computers, as well as web browsers. The memo also asks employees to adopt secure alternatives like Microsoft Teams, Signal, Wickr, iMessage and Facetime.
Opposition to Meta
WhatsApp’s parent company Meta has opposed the decision. A Meta spokesperson said, “WhatsApp has end-to-end encryption and offers stronger privacy standards than many platforms.”
